Valhelhas – Guarda

The 370 km of extension of the GRZ – Zêzere Great Route –  travels through 13 municipalities: Manteigas, Covilhã, Guarda, Fundão, Pampilhosa da Serra, Vila de Rei, Oleiros, Sertã, Pedrógão Grande, Figueiró dos Vinhos, Ferreira do Zêzere, Abrantes and Constância . The route of this Great Route is designed to be multimodal, and can be done on foot, by bicycle or by canoe.

Thus, it can be carried out in a continuous and chained way, by sections or even in multimodal circuits, using more than one discipline. This project also created  13 Intermodal Stations along the river route where it is possible to rent a bike, a canoe or just to stop a little.

The Guarda section takes advantage of existing paths along the river, passing through forest areas, orchard and using the existing river beach in Valhelhas as Intermodal Station.
