PORTUGUESE HISTORICAL VILLAGES ASSOCIATION

MY WORK

In this social project I was responsable to train traditional and modern techniques to future craftsmens,  develop and lead two craft studios with the brand marc of Portuguese Historical Villages Association and develop unique pieces and design objects.

Some of this work (between 2015 and 2016) was supported by Civil Casa Group and Radial Redonda Company.

Local manufacturing and innovative system – SOCIAL PROJECT

The diversity and value of the Historical Portuguese Villages endogenous resources have fostered the development of a new aproach to social and economic development, referred to as Local Productive and Innovative Systems – SPIL. Based on the philosophy from the meadow to the end consume rand throught social inclusion and innovation processes, SPILs seek to promote the unique features of Historical Villages and trigger local entrepreneurship, for increasing employment, capturing and retaining new residentes and visitors to these villages, bulding the capacity of the unemployed population, fostering the enjoyment of existing architectural heritage and enhancing the intangible heritage.

Entrelaços

The Entrelaços project came to life in the Historical Village of Sortelha and it envisaged developing a line of furniture, decoration and other objects signed by Portuguese Historical Villages Association for which it embraced the natural plant sweet grass, the know how and the design as distinguishing features. A unique project made up of history tradition, the local raw materials and the timeliness that is called for. A sustainable innovative and inclusive project that gathers craftsmen, designers / authours  and their creativity, inspired by the heritage of the Historical Village of Sortelha and it’s endogenous resources, the sweet grass “Stipa gigantea”.

VESTIR A HISTORIA

Made from portuguese raw materials, the goods manufactured in this studio in the Historical Village of Belmonte, value know how creativity and originally, and find in the heritage their source to inspiration. Wool ina avariaty of forms (untreated raw, yarn and fabric) is favoured.This focus is motivated by the region’s traditional woll industry and the briad experience in using it to produce excelente products that do justice to the craftsmanship and the raw material.
