country resort – sustainable turism
São Francisco farm in Valhelhas village (Guarda)

This project is located near Zêzere river. The promoters, a family with a long history of fruits, wine and olive oil production in nearly 40ha they wanted to create in 55377,20m2 of this farm an sustainable country resort with a unique concept.
Creating a season proprietary concept with which they intend to rent productive areas and allow resort users to produce their own products properly labeled with their names.
This allows to reconciling other types of clients and activities (such as agricultural production and workshops) to a common resort.
This resort has 20 bedrooms spread between 4 floors’ hotel and five apartments located along the ground to take maximum advantage of the sun light and existing stone walls. This project also searched for solutions more environmental sustainable on design and materials used in buildings and outdoor. This project used green roofs in all buildings, created a biological pool that took advantage of spring water using it primarily for recreation and then for irrigated and a biological septic tank.
